YBhg. Dato' Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Arham bin Abdullah
Dato’ Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Arham bin Abdullah obtained his Bachelor of Civil Engineering (B.Eng.) in 1998 and Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (M.Eng.) in 1999 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He completed his PhD in Construction Management from Loughborough University in 2003. Currently, he is a Professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He previously served on secondment as the Director of the Industry Relations Division, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, from 2014 to 2019. He also served as Deputy Director (Innovation) at the Innovation and Commercialisation Centre (ICC), UTM, from 2009 to 2014, and as Principal of Kolej Tun Hussein Onn, UTM, from 2006 to 2009. In terms of professional affiliations, he is an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Demolition Engineers and a Graduate Member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM).
The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) appointed him as a co-opted member in the development of the Malaysian Code of Practice for Building Demolition, MS2318:2012, and as a consultant in developing a training module for demolition contractors in Malaysia. He also assisted Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) in developing the Petaling Jaya Guideline for Building Demolition. Since 2004, he has actively practised as a demolition consultant in numerous demolition projects throughout Malaysia. His research interests include academia-industry collaboration, innovation and commercialisation, building and structural demolition, construction management, construction engineering, advanced engineering informatics, concurrent engineering, knowledge management, and project management.
He is also a Fellow of TalentCorp’s TF50 programme. He has served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan since 2019. During this tenure, he was also appointed as Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) from 15 June 2024 to 14 September 2024. Subsequently, the Department of Higher Education appointed him as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan effective from 24 November 2024 until 15 February 2025. He was officially appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan on 16 February 2025 and continues to hold the position to date. In July 2025, he was certified as a Professional Engineer by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a professional recognition awarded to qualified and certified engineers. On 29 September 2025, Dato’ Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Arham bin Abdullah was conferred the title of Ahli Yang Kedua (Dato’ Paduka) of the Darjah Kebesaran Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (D.P.S.K.).
