Christoph Luerssen
Christoph Luerssen is Team Leader of RE2Grid at GIZ, part of the Green Energy Project within the Energy Transition Cluster, based in Jakarta. In this role, he supports Indonesia's clean-energy transition by advancing renewable-energy deployment, grid integration, and electrification solutions in collaboration with government, industry, financial institutions, and other energy-sector stakeholders.
He brings regional experience across Southeast Asia, including prior work in Vietnam, alongside his current engagement in Indonesia and the wider ASEAN energy landscape. With expertise spanning solar PV, energy storage, rooftop solar, and clean-energy policy, Christoph offers a practical perspective on the technical and investment conditions needed to scale bankable solar, storage, and clean-power infrastructure across the region.
He holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore, where his research focused on the techno-economic assessment of energy-storage technologies for solar-powered cooling applications. His work bridges technical expertise with the policy and financing dimensions of clean-energy deployment.
