Buntoon Srethasirote

Commissioner, Energy Regulatory Commission

Mr. Buntoon Srethasirote received his Bachelor in Marine Biology and Fisheries and a Master in Environmental Science from Chulalongkorn University, and then he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from Thammasat University in Thailand. He has extensive experience in the environmental field and has made numerous contributions to several areas of natural resources and environmental reform of the country to promote sustainable development.


He used to serve as Advisor to the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs; Member of Board of Directors of the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA); Member of the Reform Committee on Land, Natural Resources and Environmental Laws; Member of the Constitution Drafting Committee, to name only a few. From 2017 to 2018 he served as Expert in the aspect of Strategy and National Reform to the Secretariat of the Cabinet and also as Deputy Executive Director of the Prime Minister Delivery Unit – a Task Force set up to oversee reform implementation according to the reform policy of the government.


Since 14 September 2018, he has been appointed Commissioner of Thailand’s Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), an independent regulatory agency responsible for the regulation of electricity and natural gas industry in Thailand.
