Mr Bambang Hermawanto was graduated as Bachelor in Electrical Engineer from Surabaya Institute of Teknology then continued his study in , University of Manchester Institute of Technology (UMIST) – Manchester, UK for Master Degree in Electrical Power System Engineering.

Most of his carrier, almost 30 years, was with PT PLN (Persero), the Electricity State Corporation of Indonesia. He was the Deputy Director of System Planning (2004 – 2008) then as the Vice President for International Relation before he retired in 2009.

He has been involving in the ASEAN Power Utility Forum (HAPUA-Head of ASEAN Power Utility/Authority) more than 15 years before he was assigned as the Chairman of ASEAN Power Grid Consultative Committee in 2009 – 2018.

He involved in developing the first ASEAN Interconnection Masterplan Study (AIMS) in 2005 and AIMS II in 2009. He led the ASEAN Power Grid Special Task Force to prepare and oversee the Feasibility Study of ASEAN Multilateral Power Trade to be completed in 2018. He was also the invited lecture in the ASEAN Resident School on Electric Power Engineering (ARSEPE) organized by HAPUA. In addtion, he was also the invited speaker in various seminars and conferences on Smart Grid and Regional Electric Power Interconnection. In 2012 – 2022, he was serving the Indonesian Electric Power Society (MKI) as Executive Director and Currently he is in-charge for Energy Transition and Sustainability issues in MKI.
