Atalanta Kar (AK) is the General Manager – Growth Regions at GE Vernova’s Electrification Software (Grid) business, leading growth, strategy, and customer engagement across Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent.

With over two decades of experience in the energy and utilities sector, AK has built a career at the intersection of industry and digital technology, applying Information and Operational Technologies to drive tangible business outcomes. His focus areas include business transformation, program execution, energy transition and strategic growth across global markets.

A large part of AK’s career has been dedicated to the Energy, Utilities, and Natural Resources sectors across ANZ, Southeast Asia, India, Africa, Europe, and the UK, where he has led successful technology-enabled transformation programs. He is especially passionate about the evolution of modern electricity grids into intelligent, AI-enabled systems. He has deep expertise in digital grid technologies, including advanced grid operations, automation, and analytics. Under his leadership, AK and his team partner with power companies, helping them enhance operational efficiency, manage transformational change, and navigate the complexities of digital grid modernization.

As a thought leader and practitioner, AK is driven by the opportunity to unlock value through data and digital innovation in the energy ecosystem. He is also deeply committed to mentoring cross-functional, cross-cultural teams, with a leadership philosophy grounded in diversity and inclusion.

AK holds a postgraduate degree in Business Administration from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Production Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University. Outside of work, AK’s interests include history, collecting antiques, and listening to Indian classical music.He lives in Pune, India, with his wife and daughter.
