1 March 2026 -  Tenaga Nasional Berhad has announced the appointment of Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul bin Ahmad as its new President / Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 March 2026.

A career leader within the organisation, Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul has held senior responsibilities across fuel management, generation operations, and regulatory engagement. His progression through technical, commercial, and stakeholder facing roles reflects the depth of experience often required to lead a national utility. 

Leadership transitions at system critical utilities carry weight. Across Southeast Asia, power companies are navigating expanding demand, rising capital requirements, and more complex generation portfolios, while maintaining affordability and reliability. 

As Malaysia’s national utility, TNB plays an important role not only domestically but within the wider ASEAN power landscape. Continuity of institutional knowledge, combined with operational discipline, remains central to how utilities manage this period of change.
