Supreme Energy Muara Laboh (SEML) is a joint venture between Supreme Energy, INPEX Corporation, and Sumitomo Corporation that develops and operates the Liki Pinangawan Muara Laboh Geothermal Working Area (WKP) in South Solok Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The project began with preliminary exploration in 2008 and progressed after signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PT PLN (Persero) in 2012. Following extensive exploration, well testing, and feasibility studies, SEML reached Financial Close in 2017, supported by an international consortium of financial institutions, enabling the construction of the geothermal power plant. Muara Laboh Unit 1 commenced commercial operation on 16 December 2019 and currently supplies 86 MW (net) of clean, renewable, and reliable electricity to Indonesia’s national grid through a 150 kV transmission line under a 30-year PPA with PLN. The project contributes to national energy security while generating employment opportunities, supporting local businesses, implementing community development programs, and promoting environmental sustainability. Building on this achievement, SEML is developing Muara Laboh Unit 2, which achieved significant milestones in 2024, including the PPA amendment, tariff approval, and EPC contract implementation. The project reached Financial Close in 2025 and is scheduled for commercial operation in 2027 with an estimated capacity of 80 MW. Planning for Unit 3 (60 MW) is also underway, reinforcing Indonesia’s renewable energy transition and reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 938,000 tons, while supporting sustainable economic growth and long-term environmental stewardship.
