HIPASE is an integrated automation platform developed by ANDRITZ Hydropower for modern hydropower plants. HIPASE supports excitation, protection, synchronization, and turbine governor applications through dedicated devices designed for each function. HIPASE simplifies engineering, maintenance, training, and spare parts management while enhancing reliability, operational efficiency, cybersecurity, and long-term plant performance.

HIPASE is ANDRITZ Hydropower's proprietary automation platform for power plant control and protection applications. The platform supports excitation (HIPASE-E), protection (HIPASE-P), synchronization (HIPASE-S), and turbine governor (HIPASE-T) functions through dedicated devices built on a standardized hardware and software architecture. While each application utilizes specific application boards and functionality, the majority of hardware components, firmware, and engineering tools remain consistent across the platform, simplifying system integration, maintenance, training, and spare parts management while reducing lifecycle costs.

 
The Batutegi Hydropower Plant modernization project upgraded the excitation, governor, and protection systems of one generating unit at the 2 × 14 MW facility in Lampung, Indonesia. ANDRITZ implemented HIPASE-E, HIPASE-P, and HIPASE-T solutions, providing modern control, protection, and regulation capabilities based on the HIPASE platform architecture. The project introduced redundancy in critical systems to enhance operational security, reliability, and maintenance efficiency. By leveraging a standardized platform across multiple applications, Batutegi benefits from simplified lifecycle management, improved operational performance, and increased long-term plant reliability, supporting sustainable power generation for years to come.
