ADD GRUP, an international developer of smart water and energy metering solutions, introduced an innovation based on real implementation experience. As part of a major project in Greece, several thousand ultrasonic ADDRA meters with remotely controlled valves were installed. Customers highly appreciated the capabilities of remote water shut-off, precise monitoring, leak protection, and integration with smart platforms.
However, the project gave not only positive results but also important
feedback. Installation teams reported a key obstacle: in some sites, installing
a meter with an external valve was impossible or difficult due to lack of
space. This is especially relevant in old buildings, compact utility niches,
and areas with limited access. In some cases, installation required actual
destruction of the existing water infrastructure.
For many potential clients in other countries, this became a reason to refuse
valves, although they are a very necessary solution to combat overconsumption,
especially in drought conditions.
ADD GRUP responded to market demand and presented a new version of the ADDRA
smart meter with an integrated valve, whose design does not increase pipe
length. Now the device is easily installed within the same dimensions as a
regular water meter:
• DN15 –
length 110 mm
• DN20 – length 130 mm (in development)
• DN25 – length 195 mm (in development)
This solution removes one of the toughest barriers to the widespread
implementation of smart water metering technology with supply management
capability. For the first time on the market, a compact ultrasonic meter with
remote water supply control can be integrated without changes to existing
engineering networks.
In addition to compactness, ADDRA offers optional replaceable external Power
Bank providing up to 30 years of autonomous operation, including daily valve
activation mode.
This is critically important for sites with intensive water management such as:
• Apartment buildings with remote shut-off for non-payment,
• Hotels with prepaid water consumption models,
• Rental and communal properties where resource consumption control is crucial.
