Energy Saver App wins at the edie Net Zero Awards 2025
Eliq wins net zero award for app
Through Eliq’s energy insights technology, the app translates complex data into clear advice – helping residents identify waste, plan budgets, and take simple actions to reduce their bills.
London, 17th of October 2025 – The Energy Saver App project has been recognised at the edie Net Zero Awards 2025, taking home the Smart Systems and Flexibility Project of the Year title. The award celebrates a pioneering collaboration between Oxfordshire County Council, SMS (through its Metis platform), Eliq, MyUtilityGenius, Engage Consulting, Solar Systems 365 and Growth Guides, delivered under the Alternative Energy Markets programme and funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

Developed to help Oxfordshire households cut energy costs and carbon emissions, the Energy Saver App connects directly to smart meters and provides personalised insights into energy usage. Through Eliq’s energy insights technology, the app translates complex data into clear advice – helping residents identify waste, plan budgets, and take simple actions to reduce their bills.

Dale Hoyland, Programme Lead at Oxfordshire County Council, said:

“This success has come from a wealth of expertise, dedication and hard work from a fantastic team whom I’m proud to have worked with. Through the Alternative Energy Markets programme, hundreds of households across Oxfordshire now have quality solar PV systems with battery storage, delivered with no up-front cost, in a simple way, with a trusted delivery route, offering a gateway into wider retrofit measures, lower bills, grid flexibility and measurable climate action.”

Alongside behavioural insights, the project integrates an innovative financing model led by SMS and partners, enabling residents to access solar PV and battery storage systems with no upfront cost. This combination of data-driven personalisation and accessible financing has led to exceptionally high conversion rates to solar, proving that practical, insight-led engagement can drive real investment in renewables.

Kate Lynch, Service Delivery Manager at Eliq, commented:

“We’re thrilled and proud to see the Energy Saver App bring home this award. It’s the result of a great partnership between Eliq, Metis by SMS, Oxfordshire County Council, Zoa and MyUtilityGenius. Through the project, we’ve proven that energy insights combined with a strong PV-plus-financing model can deliver incredible conversion rates – and we need more of this to reach net zero.”

The Energy Saver App now stands as a blueprint for how technology, finance and local collaboration can make the energy transition tangible for households – turning open energy data into action and making low-carbon living simple, accessible and measurable.
