Clean & Thermal Power Generation

Southeast Asia’s energy transition is unfolding in parallel with rapid electricity demand growth and rising expectations for energy security. In Indonesia alone, the new RUPTL outlines plans to add approximately 69.5 GW of new generation capacity, including a target of 42.6 GW from renewable energy sources and 10.3 GW of gas-fired capacity to support system reliability as the generation mix evolves.

For utilities and developers across the region, the challenge is not simply replacing fossil fuels, but designing generation portfolios that can deliver reliable, affordable, and lower-emission electricity at scale.

Featured: Clean Energy Investor Agora

The next phase of Southeast Asia’s power development will not be defined only by technology choices, but by the ability to finance and deliver projects at scale. As electricity demand rises and renewable capacity expands, investors, utilities, and developers must navigate a landscape where system reliability, investment risk, and long-term energy transition goals must be addressed together.

The Clean Energy Investor Agora is a dedicated forum for investors, utilities, developers, lenders, and policymakers to examine how this next phase of power infrastructure will be financed. Discussions will explore where investment opportunities are emerging across the region and the commercial conditions required to unlock financing at scale. Hosted within the Clean and Thermal Generation stream, the Agora brings the investment perspective into the broader discussion on Southeast Asia’s evolving generation mix.

Key Takeaways:

  • Insights into where capital is flowing across Southeast Asia’s power sector

  • Understanding the commercial and regulatory conditions that determine whether projects reach financial close

  • Practical perspectives on how public and private institutions can work together to reduce project risk and unlock large scale infrastructure investment

Who Attends:

  • Utilities and IPPs

  • Infrastructure Funds and Private Equity

  • Development Finance Institutions and Export Credit Agencies

  • Commercial Banks

  • Government and Regulators
