Daniel Tampubolon was born in Pematang Siantar Indonesia in 1984. He graduated from the Institute Technology of Bandung, Indonesia in 2006 and served as an electrical engineer in PLN since 2007. After completing his Master of Engineering Management from Curtin University - Australia in 2012, he has been actively involved in distribution network planning, asset management, some initiatives in smart grid development PLN and renewable energy especially in electrifying remote areas. Since 2013, he has joined HAPUA (Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities) organization and has been assigned as the Project Leader in establishing guidance on Best Practises of Smart Grid Implementation Among HAPUA Members. He was the Deputy Manager of Distribution Planning in PLN Banten Region. In 2018, he has been assigned as the Manager of PLN Merauke, one of the service units under PLN Papua and West Papua. Since July 2019, he has been the Manager of PLN Serpong, one of the service units under PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Banten before getting promoted as Senior Manager of Planning in PLN UIW Nusa Tenggara Timur. Finally, since November 2022 he got new assignment as Senior Manager of Planning in PLN Unit Induk Distribusi Jawa Tengah & Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
