22 October 2025 - On October 21, 2025, the Cabinet approved the appointment of Mr. Narin Phoawanich, Deputy Governor – Governor’s Office of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), as the Governor of EGAT, succeeding Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, whose term ended on July 30, 2025. The appointment will take effect from the date the employment contract is signed.

Mr. Narin Phoawanich, the 17th Governor of EGAT, was born on April 2, 1974, and is currently 51 years old. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, and both a master’s and a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He has also completed executive training programs, including the Director Certification Program (DCP) by the Thai Institute of Directors and EES Europe Batteries and Energy Storage Systems Exhibition & Conference in Germany.

In terms of work experience, he served as Assistant Governor – Power Plant Engineering and Construction from 2021 to 2022, Assistant Governor – Fuel Management from 2022 to 2024, and Deputy Governor – Fuel from 2024 to 2025. He then served as Deputy Governor – Fuel and Acting Governor of EGAT from July 31 to October 15, 2025, and Deputy Governor – Governor’s Office and Acting Governor of EGAT from October 16, 2025 to the present.
