Abdul Razib Dawood
Dato’ Ir. Ts. Razib Dawood started his early career with Tenaga Nasional Berhad Engineers Sdn. Bhd., and has more than 30 years of professional experience, having worked for both Malaysian and Australian national power utilities, independent power producers, Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP), government regulator, and as a consultant for renewable energy. During his career highlights, he had held many roles such as a construction engineer, project manager, technical advisor, systems planning engineer and a power system study specialist.
From 2012 to 2017, he led Electricity Market Operations at the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga), Malaysia, before serving as CEO of Malaysia Nuclear Power Cooperation in 2017-2018. He later became the COO of the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) in 2018, Acting CEO in 2019, and was officially appointed as CEO in August 2019. Beyond Malaysia, Dato’ Abdul Razib has also assumed key roles in Australia’s energy sector, particularly at ElectraNet Pty Ltd and Senergy Econnect Australia Pty Ltd.

ASEAN, with its rapid economic development and rising energy demand, faces both unprecedented opportunities and energy challenges. I am committed to advancing the region’s efforts in creating an inclusive and sustainable energy future. By strengthening regional cooperation, fostering innovation, and supporting capacity-building initiatives, we can accelerate the transition to clean energy and ensure energy security for all ASEAN Member States,” Dato’ Razib said.
His expertise and knowledge will guide ACE in driving regional collaboration, policy development, and capacity-building efforts to support ASEAN’s journey in advancing energy security, accessibility, affordability, and sustainability in the region.
On this leadership transition, Beni Suryadi, Former Acting Executive Director of ACE, remarked, “It is with great pleasure I pass on this leadership role to Dato’ Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib Bin Dawood. His vast experience and commitment to sustainable energy will be invaluable to ACE and advancing our mission in supporting ASEAN’s energy transition. Together with our ACE colleagues, we will embark on this new chapter of advancing ASEAN’s energy goals and ensure a more inclusive and sustainable future for the region moving forward.”
With the appointment of Dato Razib as the new Executive Director, ACE is poised to further strengthen its roles as a catalyst, knowledge hub, and think tank to drive ASEAN’s energy cooperation in 2025 and onwards.
