THE 78TH INDONESIA NATIONAL ELECTRICITY DAY AND ENLIT ASIA 2023

MKI Collaborates with Enlit Asia to Hold Most Influential Electricity & Energy Sector Event in ASEAN

Jakarta, 5 April 2023 – In order to encourage the development of clean energy technology in the ASEAN Region, the most influential power and energy sector event in ASEAN will be held again in Jakarta in 2023, coinciding with Indonesia's Chairmanship year at the ASEAN Summit. This meeting is a partnership between Enlit Asia and the Indonesian Electrical Power Society (MKI) which will hold two leading events in the electricity industry and business in the ASEAN Region, with the support of PT PLN (Persero) as the Utility Host and also the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The Enlit Asia 2023 event and the 78th Indonesian National Electricity Day (HLN 78) will open together on November 14, 2023 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE). This joint event continues the partnership that has successfully presented the first Powergen Asia in Indonesia and the 73rd Indonesian National Electricity Day in 2018.

The partnership will bring together more than 350 exhibitors from around the world who will showcase the latest technologies and innovations supporting the energy transition across ASEAN. It is targeted that 12,000 visitors from all regions of Indonesia and ASEAN will benefit from more than 75 hours of free content delivered by providers of the latest technology and solutions, and case studies on the use of the latest technology in the field by IPPs and electric utilities.

The meeting is being held in order to support the energy transition in the ASEAN Region and will focus on commercial and strategic issues that will accelerate the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable power system. More than 150 industry-leading speakers will share their insights simultaneously, with the evolution of traditional power systems, the integration of next-generation clean technologies and the frameworks and financing that support this transition, will be the focus of discussion.

With more companies joining the exhibition, including those focused on Carbon Capture and Storage, Hydrogen Technology, Energy Storage, Smart Grid, and RE integration solutions including Solar PV and Wind Energy, as well as Nuclear Power Generation Technology the event has further cemented itself as the leading industry gathering on the ASEAN calendar.

"We are delighted to be back in Jakarta and once again partnering with MKI. Indonesia is a very important market in the ASEAN region, with the highest electricity demand, growth demand and active measures taken to achieve sustainability targets and update grid infrastructure.   Partnering with Indonesia's National Electricity Day sees Enlit Asia's own regional reach and capability to bring together key industry stakeholders from across ASEAN, underpinned by a strong, and vitally important, taste of Indonesia. In 2023, we can promise that this event fully reflects the strong enthusiasm to drive ASEAN's energy transition, underpinned by a desire to invest, from governments, regulators, utilities and IPPs in the region," said Richard Ireland, Chief Executive Officer of Clarion Events Asia.

Meanwhile, Arsyadany G Akmalaputri, Secretary General of MKI, explained that this year's Indonesian National Electricity Day Commemoration is the third time MKI has partnered with Enlit Asia in organizing conferences and exhibitions. The 78th Indonesian National Electricity Day and Enlit Asia 2023 will carry the theme "Strenghtening ASEAN Readiness in Energy Transition: Your Guide to The Energy Transition in Asia". This year's program will be different from previous ones, where support for the world's commitment to implement the energy transition to cleaner energy has been declared.

In line with the ASEAN Chairmanship mandated to Indonesia, ASEAN will continue to be the epicenter of the growth of its strong and empowered society., The event organized by MKI and Enlit Asia is very relevant considering the scope of exhibitors and conferences covering ASEAN countries.

This global energy transition movement needs to be strengthened and implemented by all countries including ASEAN members. It is expected that in this event exhibitors, conferences and visitors can exchange information, knowledge, experience and the latest technology that can encourage the strengthening and acceleration of energy transition in the ASEAN region. Sustainable energy transition has become one of the priority issues, where globally all countries are expected to participate in accelerating and strengthening a sustainable global energy system. Energy transition is an extensive process that needs to be carried out by countries including ASEAN countries to reduce carbon emissions that cause climate change. The agreement on the energy transition aims to achieve the same goal of utilizing new energy and cleaner renewable energy.

This event will involve all electricity stakeholders in the ASEAN region, ranging from technology providers with the latest technology, investors who are highly committed to clean energy, contractors and engineering consultants and operators who are experienced in operating power plants. With the gathering of the entire electricity community, this event will greatly contribute to strengthening and accelerating the energy transition in the ASEAN region, especially in Indonesia.

"MKI feels proud and grateful to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PT PLN (Persero) for the trust given to organize this very prestigious event. The partnership with Enlit Asia has provided an opportunity for MKI and Indonesian electricity sector stakeholders to access the latest technology and information for the sustainability of national electricity development," said Arsyadani.
