Enabling Energy Storage and Off-Grid Power Innovation

This workshop focuses on the critical role of energy storage in supporting off-grid power generation, with a focus on Southeast Asia. Decarbonisation is possible today with cost-competitive renewables, as solar and wind have become the cheapest electricity sources in over 90% of global markets due to significant cost reductions in the past decade.  Integrating these renewables requires system flexibility to manage their intermittent nature, necessitating short-duration and seasonal balancing solutions. To support the energy transition, energy markets must be designed to incentivise flexibility and send the right signal for flexible capacity investments

Powering Southeast Asia’s Energy Transition: The Role of the REC Framework in Cross-Border Collaboration 

The workshop will serve as a platform to: 

• Share RECAP Findings: Present the key findings of the RECAP project, including an analysis of existing REC frameworks, market trends, and best practices in BIMP countries. 

• Facilitate Cross-Sectoral Dialogue: Foster meaningful discussions among diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, investors, and international experts, to identify opportunities and challenges in developing a regional REC framework.

Intelligent Asset Performance Management with Digital Twin and AI - With a case study of Integrating Safety into Plant Operations and Maintenance

The workshop aims to provide the digital strategies towards achieving an Intelligent Asset Performance Management of key infrastructure assets. The workshop will explore the concept of digital twin technology and artificial intelligence in asset monitoring, reliability and predictability for improving operation and availability.  

A case study on the implementation of the Permit to Works system at Jawa Satu Power will be presented, illustrating practical applications of safety integration in a real-world setting.
